Overview

Research & Discovery

Studio 206 has been around for over 30 years located in downtown Grand Haven, Michigan. Studio 2O6 is a full-service salon delivering the best and latest in style trends with more than three decades in the business. The salon’s Logo and Identity did not represent the quality of work the salon is known to produce for their guest.

We researched salons that were similar in services and clientele. We spent time studying both local and in cities like Chicago, New York, and L. A. to get a feel for developing a look that genuinely displays the right image for Studio 2O6. The Discovery Phase helped with finding what direction we will go with developing the salon’s logo and identity system to also help with creating the Strategy for their brand.

Challenges

Finding the Mark

Taking the information that we found through the Research & Discovery Phase, applying it to the salon’s Brand Strategy. The Strategy then guided us on how to use the space design, color palette, and ambiance to find their Mark. Studio 2O6 uses a Black & White color theme with some silver items throughout the salon. The palette helps with the feeling of upscale, quality service while remaining current with the style trends in their work produced.

Silver and crystal chandeliers, along with a welcoming waiting area at the front of the salon, contribute to the ambiance. The quality of the hair and skincare products Studio 2O6 demonstrates owner Valerie Grant’s passion for offering her guest the best in salon services.

Results

Our solution.

The desire for providing quality service is what helps with building enduring relationships with the guests that feel welcomed into to the place they come to know as 2O6. We took just the (Two-O-Six) 2O6 name to create the Mark. Designing a Mark that looks like the 2O6 in both directions and works on its own in space. The new 2O6 Mark pulls in the form of the chandelier tying the Mark and Identity System with the salon. We created the Style Guide that fits the Strategy utilizing the color palette with the font that keeps the same roundness of the O in 2O6 for all other uses and design collaterals.

We created a one-page website that incorporates the new Mark, keeping the Strategy and Style Guild in mind. The site is capable of growing if needed in the future. We are continuing to work with Valerie and 2O6 to incorporate more of the Strategy into the salon with signage and marketing materials. We are looking at older Social Media accounts that are no longer relevant and other online information, to stick with the Strategy that will help with the rebranding of the salon.
